Nantucket Bandit 22 Regatta July 19

Wind tonight was a bit high, anywhere from 25 kts to 30 kts in the South. For the most part tourists were not an issue with the exception being three huge BBX monster yachts that came into Atlantic region just as the race started and refused to move. For some reason they suddenly vacated the Blake Sea, maybe they saw the error of their ways.

Bianca crashed during the start countdown of the first race but did better the next two. Amy did a very good job of catching up in the same race after doing a penalty turn. She managed to challenge Moon a couple of times but couldn’t steal the lead.

Bianca had a great start in the second race and gained even more as Moon and Amy played a game between them trying to see who could get closer to the wind. Side by side with Amy on leeward, she pressed and pressed Moon, at times I could see his AWA as 24 degrees. Eventually after the first turn Moon was able to get the lead over Amy and hold it.

Amy left for sleep before the last race bringing the field down to four boats. After the start the boats strung out for the most part and finished in starting order.

Congratulations to Moon for his two wind and Bianca for her win.

I had yesterday times with suddenly extreme lag and my boat reacted 10-15sec after i sent a command to it.
That happened in first race before the start.
After relogging and a new boat it went all fine in the second race. Well i bet Moon didn’t like that someone else played Moon-games with him this time
In the third race i was close to Moon and waiting for my chance to catch him after buoy 3 on the downwind. But the crossing before buoy 3 turned me around by 120° with full speed and i was far off the course. And the weird lag came back to my boat. That was the end of my chase. Bad luck and not really my conditions yesterday.

I always say that going into a shadowing war with Moon on your leeward is bad business, luckily I was able to hold the position, but Moon is an expert with spin, and I couldn’t catch him no matter how hard I try . The two races with this hurricane wind were fun, hopefully come back this winds soon.
