NYC Bandit 22 LTW regatta 24 May

The weather was good for tonight’s Bandit 22 LTE regatta and few tourists about. Most exciting race of the three was the first one. Amy took an early lead and held it until the second mark where Moon managed to slip inside on the rounding of the mark and get past her. Viv soon after passed Amy and then pressed Moon until the third mark where she was able to pass him and gain the lead. She was unable to extend the lead but did hold it for the rest of the two lap race.

Congratulations to Viv for her two wins and Gia for her one.

I’m thinking believed he could win the first race, but Moon is unforgivable when he sees the hole to pass. Take and go away. Is Moon style.

Yeah, fun races.
In the 1st, I simply sailed a more direct course to mark 3 to catch up and pass the leading pair while they were playing their luffing duel.
The 2nd and 3rd races were interesting: it all played out in the first upwind leg. On race 2, Gia went her way, sailed fast on her own and held her line to mark 1 after we crossed when I thought she would pinch to fetch it so I could close the little gap. It didn’t happen: Well done! Then I didn’t sail clean enough to catch up or even put pressure on her in the rest of the race and she made no mistake.
In the final race, I took a better start and held my own well in the initial beat, rounding mark 1 with a comfortable lead. No mistake and good navigation allowed me to keep that lead. Even extend it a little.
