NYC/St. Aubry I-MOCCA series

This week’s I-MOCCA regatta was hosted by Nantucket Yacht Club featuring two courses. Wind started out at 15 kts from SSW direction of 170 degrees. As usual there were some shifts in both direction and strength along the course but nothing extreme. Assisting were Gemma and Viv.

Ian lead from the start and was never challenged. The rest of the fleet fought it out with many shifts in positions. Suddenly there were many tourists either sailing or moored around the Blake including two submarines that seemed intent on how close they could get to the boats. They failed. Congratulations to Ian for the victory in the first race.

The second race started out with a mess at the line as the RD and two marshals saw boats piled up or flying. Dae somehow moored at the line but this may have been due to being hit or RL acting up. I saw Ian pass through her boat, Gemma saw his boat jump over hers, in other words SL at its best with no two people seeing the same thing. Dae however was able to overcome the bad start and go on to win! Congratulations Dae!

Thanks to the usual bunch of spectators for cheering the racers on, thanks to the racers for competing and thanks to Gemma and Viv for your assistance.

Thank you guys for your great job hosting the race and cleaning the area.

Yes it was a nice fleet and there were some nice duels. Unfortunately the sunday lag on Blake killed a lot…

I lagged like always on last crossing before the start line and then it took ages to get control back.

  • In first race i got turned around during the first upwind tack and was far out of course and my arrow keys only moved my cam. Result i had to moor and start again. My chase was quite successful until i tried to enter Mizzen after turning perfectly with nearly most speed around Crows nest and aiming Moon to catch up with him. But unfortunately there was a frigate still in Mizzen with 12 persons on it and SL told me i cant enter the sim, because its full. But in the end i could at least finish the race.
  • My second race was the same at the start and after i accelerated to catch up with the leading boats i got pulled off the boat trying to enter China before the tack to buoy 1, my boat was returned and my race over.

Well it was for me the normal disaster of last weeks. But the others had a lot of fun and exciting races.

So overall with that nice fleet another nice race day with the IMocca

hugs and kisses

I forgot to give credit and thank Bianca for the photo of the fleet. This was the first time I’ve tried posting a photo here and with no preview I didn’t know what it would look like if it showed up at all. Thank you Bianca!
